Dr. Carly Hood is a saxophonist and music educator from the Cincinnati metropolitan area. She is Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Thomas More University and Adjunct Faculty of Music at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Dr. Hood is an active performer in both solo and chamber capacities. Dr. Hood is an experienced soloist, most recently performing Roshanne Etezady's new saxophone concerto Negative Split. She has performed with several orchestras, including the Louisville, Columbus, Lexington, Springfield, and Kentucky Symphony Orchestras. She was the baritone saxophonist in the Rhine Quartet, 2018 Winners of the Ohio MNTA competition and Semifinalists in the 2018 NASA Saxophone Quartet competition, and current baritone saxophonist of the Cincinnati Saxophone Quartet. Dr. Hood earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with a cognate in Music History. During her time at CCM, Dr. Hood served as Graduate Assistant for both the Saxophone Studio and Music Education division. Prior to her doctoral studies with Dr. James Bunte at CCM, Dr. Hood received a Masters in Saxophone Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she studied with and served as Graduate Assistant for Dr. Nathan Nabb. Dr. Hood holds undergraduate degrees in both Saxophone Performance and Music Education from CCM, where she studied saxophone with Dr. James Bunte and music education with Dr. Ann Porter.
